about me

I am Troy Babineau, a Canadian artist with over three decades as a photographer, and nearly ten years a painter.  I enjoy singing, playing guitar, composing songs and writing literature.

As a painter, I was originally inspired by the famous German artist, Gerard Richter, who’s squeegee painting technique I adopted early on.  When it comes to creating art, I give much of the credit to the paint itself, as most often, it does what it wants to do on the canvas, and I am merely a tool that delivers the forging bond between paint and canvas.  I also make my own sturdy frames using real, Douglas Fir wood, and heavy cotton canvas.

As a young photographer, I was inspired by Ansel Adams, among others, including surrealist Henri Cartier-Bresson.  After years of shooting landscapes, portraits, weddings, real estate, and travel photography, it is abstract imagery photography that I am presently interested in, and focusing on.  I am currently in the process of printing my personal favourite images onto large canvases, and having them float framed.  These works should be available in the Spring of 2023.

Thanks for visiting and have a great day.

Cheers, Troy
